An EPREL registration number — the EPREL ID sellers ask for — is the number the EU registry assigns to a model when its supplier registers it. Under Regulation (EU) 2017/1369, a supplier must register each energy-labelled model in the EPREL database before placing it on the EU market, uploading the energy label, the product information sheet and the technical documentation. Each registered model receives an EPREL registration / product ID and a public EPREL page reachable from the QR code on the printed label; retailers and online sellers must show the registered label and energy class.
The official lookup lives on the EPREL public database, which added search by GTIN in early 2025. This tool is a registration-readiness guide, not a live mirror of EPREL: it validates your GTIN's GS1 check digit locally and opens that official search — the registration verdict, energy class, supplier and EPREL product ID are read on the EU registry itself.

What is an EPREL registration number (EPREL ID), and where do I find it?
The EPREL model registration number — informally the EPREL ID — is the plain numeric identifier the EU registry assigns to a product model when its supplier registers it, before the model is placed on the EU market. It is not the GTIN/EAN barcode: EPREL keys its public product pages on the registration number, which is why a GTIN on its own cannot deep-link to a specific record. There are three places to get it.

EPREL public search vs supplier login — which one do you need?
They are two different systems on two different hosts, and most people searching for an “EPREL database login” do not need one: looking a product up is free and open, with no account at all. The login exists only for suppliers registering their own models.

EPREL is one central EU registry, not a set of national ones, and the Commission publishes it in every official EU language — so the EPREL-Registrierungsnummer asked for in German and the wyszukiwarka EPREL (EPREL search) asked for in Polish are the same registration number and the same search screen as the English ones above. There is no separate national Energielabel-Datenbank to check: the Commission's German EPREL page and its Polish version both point at eprel.ec.europa.eu.

What this does
Under Regulation (EU) 2017/1369, every energy-labelled product placed on the EU market must be registered in the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) before it can be sold. This tool does two verifiable things: it checks your GTIN/EAN against the GS1 mod-10 check-digit algorithm (catching a mistyped barcode before you waste a search), and it opens the official EPREL public search for that GTIN. EPREL added GTIN search in early 2025. The registration verdict, declared energy class, supplier and EPREL product ID are read on EPREL's own screen — this tool never invents or caches a verdict.
Why it matters for sellers
Listing an unregistered energy-labelled product is a Market Surveillance Authority infringement under Regulation (EU) 2017/1369, and marketplaces such as Amazon EU increasingly suppress SKUs that cannot show a valid EPREL entry. Checking the GTIN on the official registry before you publish a listing lets you confirm registration, the energy class, and the EPREL product ID from the authoritative source. EPREL's GTIN coverage is still partial — for many models the GTIN has not yet been added by the supplier — so a brand-and-model search on the portal is the fallback when a GTIN returns no result.
Frequently asked questions
Does this tool tell me if my product is registered in EPREL?
No — and any tool that claims to is reading a copy that can fall out of date. This tool validates your GTIN's GS1 check digit locally, then opens the official EPREL public search for that number so you read the registration status, energy class, supplier and EPREL product ID directly from the EU registry. The verdict lives on the primary source.
Why can't you just show me the EPREL record here?
EPREL keys its public product pages on the EPREL product ID (a 5–7 digit number), not the GTIN, so a GTIN alone cannot deep-link to a specific record. The portal added GTIN search in early 2025, which is exactly the search this tool routes you to.
Is EPREL registration mandatory before I sell?
Yes. Under Regulation (EU) 2017/1369, suppliers must register an energy-labelled product model in EPREL before placing it on the EU market. Marketplaces such as Amazon EU increasingly suppress listings that cannot show a valid EPREL entry.
What does the GS1 check-digit validation actually prove?
It proves the number is internally consistent — the last digit is computed from the others using the GS1 mod-10 algorithm, so a single mistyped digit fails. A valid check digit does not mean the GTIN exists or is registered; it just means it is shaped like a real GTIN and worth searching.
My GTIN passes the check digit but EPREL shows no result. What now?
EPREL's GTIN coverage is still partial — for many models the GTIN has not yet been added by the supplier, even when the model is registered. Try the brand-and-model search on the portal, or ask the supplier for the EPREL product ID. A genuinely unregistered model must be registered before it is placed on the market.
Which product groups are in EPREL scope?
Energy-labelled groups under Regulation (EU) 2017/1369: refrigerators, washing machines, washer-dryers, dishwashers, electronic displays (incl. TVs), light sources, air conditioners, tumble dryers, ovens and range hoods, ventilation units, water and space heaters, tyres, professional refrigeration, and — since 20 June 2025 — smartphones and slate tablets (added by Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/1669). Cookware and headphones are out of scope.
